” Wafaa Bilal, a professor at New York University, has had a camera surgically implanted in his head for an art project called, ‘The Third I.’ The digital camera will capture his activities at one minute intervals, 24 hours a day.
The images it takes will then be transmitted to monitors at a new museum in Qatar called Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art. Mr Bilal chose the back of his head to make a statement about “the things we don’t see and leave behind. One of the social conditions we live in is surveillance and what I wanted to do as an artist, I wanted just to reflect it simply to the public in order to initiate that platform so we enter the dialogue,” he said. ”
