Thank you International Symposium of Wearable Computers ISWC 2019 Design Exhibition for naming our paper Emotional prosthesis for animating awe through performative biofeedback as the winner of the Function Design Award.

The Awe Goosebumps design was exhibited as an emotion prostesis for repatterning the feeling of awe and wonder, a healthy emotion. AWE Goosebumps is a bioresponsive animatronic skin that amplifies the feeling of frisson and animates awe. SENSOREE emotech animates the intense emotions that trigger awe. This latent sense is measured with a series of biosensors – electrodermal activity for excitement, breath, and heart rate variability – and then illuminated and amplified with inflatable (pneumatic) goosebumps under kiragami skin. Breathing patterns are animated with a teal inhale to blue exhale pulsing glow. When the thrill of frisson is detected, silicone pockets inflate to initiate the peekaboo interaction to make fabric stand on end like goosebumps and illuminate a pink glowing blush.

The wearable was on display in London, UK, at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre with many friends in the wearable technology world.FD988A3A-1EE9-4291-802E-B220A75FCC82_1_105_c F3D71AFC-5EA0-4953-8660-A6676098F3B2_1_105_c 7C3CBB6F-774D-46B8-B0B9-2E88FFD45034_1_105_c
