The SENSOREE AWElectric shared goosebumps design is currently on view at Tetem, as part of the exhibit Counting Digital Sheep. Date: 13.02.18 – 13.05.18 Photography by Christina Bakuchava.
Technological developments bring new opportunities with them, but also contemporary uncertainties and problems. Frequently heard concerns are: Is it safe? What are the disadvantages and do the benefits weigh against it? Counting Digital Sheep examines to what extent and in what way art and design can contribute to thinking about and working on issues in the area of social and digital security.
Curator ViolaVirus shows the technological influence on our lives and (social) safety, both in a negative and in a positive sense; artificial intelligence that forces the user to make strange acts, to high-tech clothing that makes social interaction easier. How can we become big data-supplying, easy sheep? But also: How can devices actually improve our well-being?
For this exhibition Tetem works together with the research group Digitization & Safety at Avans University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch. The exhibition can be seen successively at both locations: at the beginning of 2018 in Tetem and at the end of 2018 in Den Bosch.
Inspired by the phrase, “That gave me goosebumps, did you feel it too?” The AWElectric is a bioresponsive garment with 3dprint inflatables and AudioTactile fabric that detects, amplifies, and shares the feeling of goosebumps between two people.
